Christmas 2013

It’s that time of year again and Christmas is fast approaching so now is the time to think about your special family meal. We will give you a quick resume as to what is on offer; Our free range Turkeys and Chickens are provided by the Burn family of Fenham le Moor farm, 8 miles from our doorstep.  Fabulously tasting birds all dressed and prepared for your table. Mrs Lamb of Fleetham Farm near Seahouses produces our Geese.  A limited number of these are available and so it is first come first served. Ducks are top quality Gressingham ducks and the finest you can get. All manner of game is available on request. The first week in December sees the delivery of our many ribs and sirloins of Beef so that they have time to hang and age and be perfect for Christmas and New Year.  All sourced from northern farms via Thompsons of Whitton le Wear. Thompsons also provide us with Welsh Pedigree Pork which has a fantastic taste. We also make a variety of accompaniments for your Christmas meal, homemade stuffings, pigs in blankets, sausage meat and chippolatas.

The legendary sausage roll hits the headlines again!

Carter’s famous sausage roll was mentioned this weekend (7/4/2013) in the Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine.  In her column ‘The Kitchen Thinker” Bee Wilson wrote “The finest bought sausage rolls I’ve ever had came from R Carter & Son in Bamburgh – richly meaty with a flaky, egg washed crust.  Once tried, you’ll never be tempted by a flaccid garage one again.”

After all of the recent food scandals about horse meat etc. Come along to a real Butchers where you can be confident about where the meat has come from.

We have full traceability on all our meat and the sausages and bacon are produced on the premises from quality products.

Ask our experienced staff any questions at all about the meat or a particular cut and how to prepare and cook it.
